Personal Blog is a full-website layout designed by the DiviFlash team. You can use this layout to your website using two import methods:
- Method 1: Using the DiviFlash layout importer (Easy Import)
- Method 2: Manually importing the layout
In this guide, we will show you how to import the Personal Blog layout using both methods.
Method 1: Using DiviFlash Layout Importer
DiviFlash has a one-click layout importer that you can use to import any of DiviFlash’s layouts with ease. We are going to use the importer to add the Personal Blog layout:
Step 1: Install and activate the Divi Theme.
Step 2: Install and activate the DiviFlash Plugin.
Step 3: Go to your WordPress dashboard > DiviFlash > Layouts, and search for “Personal Blog”.
Step 4: Hover over the “Personal Blog” layout and click on the “Import Layout” button.
- A popup window will appear, displaying layout settings and server requirements. If all requirements are met, click on “Start Importing.” (If you see red crosses, adjust server settings before proceeding.)
- The import process may take a few minutes to complete.
- Once the import is complete, click on “Menu Customize” to customize the menu of the newly imported layout. Follow Divi Layout Menu Customization guide.
Step 5: Set Side Widgets for the Blog Page
The Personal Blog layout’s blog page has several widgets that you need to set manually. Here is how to do it:
- Navigate to to WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Widgets
- Under the sidebar area, click the “+” button and add a Group block. Choose the single container layout option.
- Inside the group, click “+” and add a Paragraph block. Enter your desired text and change it to a heading if needed.
- Click the three dots on the toolbar and select “Add after.”
- Then, click “+” and insert the “Categories List” block.
- Repeat the same steps to add the Tag Cloud and Post blocks.
Note: Create a new Group block for each widget and add the respective widget inside it.
Step 6: After customizing the menu, set your site’s homepage and blog page by following these steps:
- Go to the WordPress dashboard > Settings > Reading.
- Under “Your homepage display,” select “A static page.”
- Choose “Home” from the homepage dropdown menu.
- Then choose “Blog” from the post page dropdown menu.
- Click on “Save Changes” to save the changes.
Now that your Personal Blog layout has been successfully imported, it is live and ready to view on your website.
Method 2: Manually Import the Layout
If you still prefer manual import, DiviFlash lets you do it. Here is how to import and use the Personal Blog layout manually:
Step 1: Install and activate the Divi Theme.
Step 2: Install and activate the DiviFlash Plugin.
Step 3: Download the Personal Blog layout file from the DiviFlash website and unzip it.
Step 4: Import the “DiviFlash’s Dashboard Settings” file into DiviFlash’s dashboard panel:
- Navigate to WordPress dashboard > DiviFlash > Settings > Import/Export.
- Click on “Choose File” and select “DiviFlash Dashboard – Personal Blog Layout – DiviFlash.json”
- Finally, click on the “Import Settings” button
Step 5: Import the “Divi Theme Options Settings” file into the Divi Theme Options panel:
- Navigate to WordPress dashboard > Divi > Theme Options
- Click on the “Import & Export” icon in the right side corner
- Select the “Import” tab and choose the JSON file named “Divi Theme Options Settings – Personal Blog Layout – DiviFlash.json”
- Finally, click on “Import Divi Theme Options”
Step 6: Import the “Theme Builder Settings” file into the Divi Theme Builder panel:
- Navigate to WordPress dashboard > Divi > Theme Builder
- Click on the “Import & Export” icon in the right side corner
- Select the “Import” tab and choose the JSON file named “Divi Theme Builder Settings – Personal Blog Layout – DiviFlash.json”
- Finally, click on “Import Divi Theme Builder Templates”.
Step 7: Import the “Divi Library” file into Divi Library panel
- Navigate to WordPress dashboard > Divi > Divi Library
- Click on the “Import & Export” button on the upper left
- Select the “Import” tab and choose the JSON file named “All In One – Personal Blog Layout – DiviFlash.json”
- Click on the “Import Divi Builder Layouts” button.
Step 8: Manually Set Side Widgets for the Blog Page
The Personal Blog layout has some widgets in the blog page that you have to set manually. Here is how to do it:
- Navigate to to WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Widgets
- Under the sidebar area, click the “+” button and add a Group block. Choose the single container layout option.
- Inside the group, click “+” and add a Paragraph block. Enter your desired text and change it to a heading if needed.
- Click the three dots on the toolbar and select “Add after.”
- Then, click “+” and insert the “Categories List” block.
- Repeat the same steps to add the Tag Cloud and Post blocks.
Note: Create a new Group block for each widget and add the respective widget inside it.
Step 9: Import the “Theme Customizer Settings” file into the Theme Customizer panel
- Navigate to WordPress dashboard > Divi > Theme Customizer
- Click on the “Import & Export” icon on the top left corner.
- Select the “Import” tab and choose the JSON file named “Divi Theme Customizer Settings – Personal Blog Layout – DiviFlash.json”
- Finally, click on “Import Divi Customizer Settings”.
Step 10: Import the Media file for the layout
- Navigate to WordPress dashboard > Tool > Import
- Click on Run Importer under the WordPress (If you see, “Install Now” instead of “Run Importer,” click on install. Then you will get the “Run Importer” option.)
- Click on “Choose File” and import the “Media – Personal Blog Layout – DiviFlash.xml” file and click “Upload file and import”.
- Assign the author (or skip this step), then check the “Import Attachment” option and click “Submit” to save your changes.
By following the same steps (WordPress dashboard > Tool > Import > Run Importer under WordPress), you have to import Pages, and Posts .xml files.
Step 11: Display Items Associated with Categories
Personal Blog layout includes category-based sections on the homepage and the filterable blog page. To avoid “no data found” errors, you will need to manually assign categories to each module.
Here is how you will do it:
- Navigate to the Home page and enable the Visual Builder.
- Scroll to the “Traveler Shots” section and click the settings icon on the module.
- In the “Category” dropdown menu, select your desired category to display related photos.
Repeat this process for the Filterable Blog page or any other section using category-based content to ensure everything displays correctly.
Step 12: Set your site’s homepage and blog page by following these steps:
- Go to the WordPress dashboard > Settings > Reading.
- Under “Your homepage display,” select “A static page.”
- Choose “Home” from the homepage dropdown menu.
- Then choose “Blog” from the post page dropdown menu.
- Click on “Save Changes” to save the changes.
Step 13: Create a menu for the imported layout. Follow Divi Layout Menu Customization guide for guidance.
Now your website should match the appearance of the Personal Blog layout.
